STYLE ENVY: Rooney Mara

The transformation Rooney Mara has undergone since being cast for last years 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' is incredible! Where she was once your average looking 'girl next door', she has since blossomed into a beautiful, striking young woman! Her style first caught my attention last night when she attended the 69th annual Golden Globe awards wearing a stunning, sleek cut-out Nina Ricci gown with bow detail.

Now, I haven't actually seen The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, (it's on my to do list), but I'm aware that some feel that she took on her role as the main character, 'Lisbeth Salander' too seriously by maintaining the gothic, tomboyish appearance. I however think that the role simply allowed her to try a darker, more androgynous style, and hey, it works and so she's stuck with it! If you found a look which made you more memorable, wouldn't you keep it to!?

In looking back through her style history, we can see a beautiful array of lace, leather and sculpted shapes. These gothic inspired dresses come from the likes of Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and Valentino - I can't even begin to imagine how incredible her wardrobe looks! And not only has she traded in her old clothes to give herself the appearance of a night goddess, but as you can see, she's kept her strong dark fringe as well, which frames her stunning elfin featured face. Her makeup stays soft and simple however, keeping the look fresh and glamorous.

I don't really have any style icons, but Rooney Mara is undoubtedly my new style idol! Her look is stunning and I think I even have a little bit of a girl crush on her to! What do you think of her new love of gothic glamor?

  2. I can definitely see why you admire her style, her dresses in these photos have a very cyberpunk feel about them. Very "Blade Runner" xx
