OUTFIT INSPIRATION: A Night out in the City

When I go out 'clubbing' I tend not to take my outfits too seriously, of course I put effort into selecting what I wear, but I think if you're going out to get trollied and potentially make a fool out of yourself anyway, you may as well have fun with fashion! I usually wear high waisted shorts when I go out dancing because it gives me the freedom to move without flashing my knickers! But then...I do dance like a bit of a lemon ;) Here's an outfit I would like to wear out.

1. Sequin vest, £40, Topshop
2. Unicorn printed hotpants, £34, Topshop, (out of stock, sorry ladies)
3. Super high wedge, £60, ASOS

I wanted the sequin top as soon as I first saw it in a London store, I visualized it to fall nicely and look elegant yet a bit rock and roll paired with a pair of vintage high waisted levis...and then I remembered that I am not Kate Moss and that it would never look as cool as I wanted it to any way...and I walked away from it's £40 price tag.

I really need to buy myself some super high heels and I feel a wedge is a good place to start...my friend and I have decided to start wearing heels more often cos let's face it, they do make your legs look great! These lace ups are £60, which is pretty pricey, but they are gorgeous and would definitely make most of my outfits look 10X more awesome!

Keep an eye open for my giveaway which I'll be posting information about tomorrow!^^

OUTFIT INSPIRATION: Topshop Gothic Glamour

I must admit, I went off of Topshop for a while...their prices can be quite high and I hate owning the same clothes as everyone else. BUT, recently I just can't seem to stay away, they have far too many beautiful items to offer and I've been browsing their online store regularly, teasing myself with clothes I can't afford, (gosh I hate being a student). Here's an outfit from Topshop I wish I owned, but don't, sigh.

1. Poppy lace dress by Jones and Jones, £60
2. Ankle socks, £5
3. KONFETTI fine glitter lace ups, £60

The shape of this dress is divine, the sleeves will cover upper arms, (I don't know if any one else has an upper arm complex but I seem to!), and the box pleats in the skirt give it body and structure. The lace detail is glamorous with a hint of Gothic yet sophistication and well, who can resist a peter pan collar!? I would pair this beauty with these stunning glitter brogue style shoes and a pair of simple black ankle socks to keep the black theme running through the outfit.

By the way I have a sponsored giveaway coming soon, I've chosen something nice and summery for you to win, exciting!

PHOTO: Ailsa

This is a photo I took last week whilst shooting for the cover of a new online magazine my friend is putting together. I really enjoyed working with this model and she is most definitely going to be my Cinderella in the 'Darker side of Disney' series I'm planning for my final major project! Also Amy did a fantastic job with the makeup, I LOVE the glittery eyes...I may have to get her to do a tutorial on here for you:)

LFW FAVOURITE: McQ suprise suprise...

"McQ is all grown up grown up" says ELLEuk.com after Alexander McQueen's "little sister line" puts on the dramatic, theatrical performance we were all hoping for. Showing on the catwalk for the first time ever, Sarah Burton has given the secondary line the breath of fresh air it needed with leather, lace and velvet, what more could we ask for in a fall collection? Gothic and glamorous, (just how I like it), McQ was simply stunning, breathtaking, beautiful. What was your favourite Fall 2012 show?

Just a Grey Day in Devon: Jaeger Jacket

Yesterday I went back to Devon to visit my family literally for 24 hours...I got home again this evening. It was short but sweet and gave me the break I needed from city life in order to focus my thoughts. Whilst there I nipped into a few charity shops and picked up this lightweight vintage Jaeger jacket for just £6 - I already have a tweed jacket of a similar style but it's heavier so this one will come in useful this spring.

NEW DRESS: Vintage

As most of you know, I work part-time at a quaint little vintage store in the beautiful old city of Winchester. Whilst in work on Wednesday I spotted this adorable check dress with a peter pan collar - it was hanging out the back awaiting ironing. I immediately text my boss asking for a price...and for just £18 I couldn't say no!

BACKSTAGE @ MARIA GRACHVOGEL AW12

Yesterday I dressed at the Maria Grachvogel show at The Savoy hotel. It was a really different experience to my previous times spent backstage at a fashion show...it was very relaxed and spacious with lots of people sitting about chatting and it was just generally a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately in working this show it meant that I missed PPQ because there was a slight cross over, but it was good to do something new any way.

I wore a black dress with a leopard print peter pan collar, belted and with black tights and black glittery brogues. I also had my green top coat and Urban Outfitters bicycle bag with me - sorry I didn't manage to get a picture! Here are some images from backstage.

You can see the Maria Grachvogel AW12 collection HERE.

Happy Valentines Day

I wanted to save this dress for a post on Friday when I'm working two shows at fashion week, but as it's covered in little love hearts it seemed very appropriate for today! I bagged this bargain in the River Island sale for just £20! I'm very happy with the design and fit as the material is quite stiff so the skirt keeps its shape. I don't make a massive deal of Valentines day, I made my boyfriend his present and then we treated ourselves to a takeaway...but I don't dislike the holiday. It's nice to dedicate a day to love!

How did you spend Valentines day? Did anyone receive any really romantic gifts!?

The Devil Wears Prada

Sorry this is a little late, I've been a busy bee! Just wanted to share with you the outfit I wore on Saturday night to a gig and then out for a dance. I don't normally wear jeans or trousers of any sort out in the evening but it was so cold and I didn't want to look too overdressed at the gig, (even though I'm still pretty sure I was the most bright and colourful person there and stuck out like a sore thumb but nevermind!)

Anyway the blouse and cardi are both vintage, it's my FAVOURITE blouse and I love the colour of the cardigan, I just think that the two really compliment each other so I like to wear them together! I think I may break soon and buy the Topshop t-bar shoes even though I really can't afford to...shall I just get them and worry about money another day? ;) My friend and I were talking today and it turns out shes had her eye on the white ones! I may also invest in some more headbands whilst I'm growing my hair.

Spring thinking!

As you may already know, I'm finding it a little tricky to get into the spirit of spring. With the pastel trend set to be in full swing over the next few seasons, I can't help but panic about the fact that I don't suit such light shades, as beautiful as they may be, and you certainly wont find me in neon! I really need to go shopping and figure out which colours I can and can't wear, as at the moment the majority of my wardrobe is dark...I don't even know how it came to be this way!

Unfortunately I can't afford to buy new clothes at the moment, so I've put together a spring inspired outfit on here instead. Lace is a trend that I think I could get into, and as for colour, I'll be using accessories such as this beautiful bowler bag to add a pop of colour to my otherwise dull outfits rather than dressing head to toe in brights!

1. Navy lace skater dress, £35, River Island
2. Oversize bowler, £40, Asos
3. Black patent t-bar shoes, £34, Topshop
4. Knee socks, £4.99, H&M

Sirisha

I took some photos of my housemate today, and I really liked these two images. I wanted to play about with the effects I could get when using glitter on her face and a slow shutter speed. I've learnt that in the future I will most definitely be needing a makeup artist to apply the glitter and also I'd like to shoot outside...

Fringes & Spectacles!

Today I got a fresh new fringe, very Rooney Mara inspired, and also picked up my two brand new pairs of glasses from Specsavers. Completely ignoring the fact that I'd have to pay more money, this time I decided to get TWO pairs so that I could change between them when I feel like it^^

In her wardrobe, EVERY girl needs...

At least one pair of black skinny jeans, nothing special! I have only just, FINALLY, gotten around to buying myself a pair of black skinny jeans, which truly are the key to any simple outfit, day or night! They're flattering and go with absolutely anything and everything! I got mine from River Island. I ordered online and had a little bit of trouble with the awful delivery service, but it was worth the wait because they're comfortable and well made. I also ordered a pair of high waisted but they were about three inches too short in the leg so I'm taking them back.

Although I'm only a 32" leg, I always buy a 34" because I like the ruffled affect achieved around the ankles when my jeans are slightly too long...also I HATE ankle biters when I haven't intentionally bought them to be so because I'm always wearing silly socks!

As well as two pairs of jeans I also bought an adorable little black prom style dress in the sale. I'll get a photo up soon! I don't mean to bore you with endless images of me wearing this green coat...but this is what I wore into uni today!

'THAT' bag...

...everyone has one, a bag that's they've used so much that it's literally falling apart! Mine is a nautical design by Loungefly which I picked up down the lanes in Brighton for about £40 when I was just seventeen. That means that I've had this bag, and used it pretty much everytime I've left the house, for four years now! Wow, I'm definitely due an upgrade!

All of the zip sliders that I use have fallen off, the bottom panel of material is coming away from the rest of the bag and it's just generally knackered and fraying. This brave bag has survived a very wet and muddy Reading festival, an even wetter and muddier Glastonbury festival and has traveled to France and Finland! Despite all of our history however, I think it's finally time to move on and replace this old trooper. So as of now, I'll be keeping an eye out for a bag which will suit my every day needs and be as good to me as this one has, wish me luck!

I had university today, my favourite unit which is called 'Fashion Freelancing', and I wore my new coat again! Unfortunately I had to leave half way through one of my seminars because I had a headache worse than any I'd ever experienced in my life! It seems to have cleared up now with pain killers so fingers crossed I'll feel better tomorrow.
