WHAT TO DO IN LONDON THIS WEEKEND

Tomorrow I'm heading over to East London for Seek & Revive's vintage kilo sale at the Oval space in Bethnal Green. At just £15 a kilo, (that's around five vintage pieces), it's definitely worth popping down to see what bargains you can get your hands on.... there will also be a live DJ, food, a bar and a decked balcony space where you can hang out and treat yourself to a drink after shopping!

Check out their facebook or twitter for more information, see you tomorrow!

THAT BOY THAT GIRL

Last weekend a friend and I headed East for the afternoon. First we went to Columbia road flower market, which was beautiful in the sunshine, and then we had a look around the Catlin Art Prize exhibition before going to Brick Lane for food! Whilst down Brick Lane we popped into the vintage store Rokit, where we found this sweet short sleeved shirt - it reminds me of candy!

It was actually Luke who pointed it out first, and at just £12 I had to have it! I thought it would look great styled in a baggy, boyish way, (like in these images), but that it would also work worn with a high waisted skirt and party shoes for a night out! I also picked up a black, leather bomber jacket for just £10.

VINTAGE SHIRT: £12, ROKIT

If you haven't guessed already, I'm a massive fan of androgynous dressing, and I love the idea of unisex clothing. You'll often find me in baggy shirts and jumpers, a boyish beanie or brogues - all of which are stereotypically deemed menswear, but look so good on women! (I'm a little obsessed with men's shoes, which I find so much more inspiring than the selection that we have). To demonstrate the beauty of unisex style, here Luke and I have both worn the same shirt in a similar way, styled loosely with dark, slim jeans, and flat shoes, (though obviously Luke looks way cooler with his fabulous Nike trainers).

By the way, I spent some of yesterday trawling the internet for discount shoe shops, and finally purchased a pair of Nikes! I bought them from ASOS in the end, along with a men's backpack and a dress. I can't wait to show you all my new stuff!

J.CREW CONCEPT STORE

Last week Londoners were given special access to the J.Crew brand when a concept store opened at Kings Cross, next to Central Saint Martins, for just two days. The temporary show-space offered a closer look at J.Crew's summer 13 collections as well as an exclusive sneak peek at their fall range.

The combination of bright colour, sophisticated jacquard, interesting texture and playful pattern created an overall eclectic feel with an air of fun and a strong brand image. Find out more about J.Crew and their collaboration with CSM over at their website!

I WISH I WAS WEARING: MARKUS LUPFER

I mentioned the brand Milly the other day, and just wanted to share with you yet another designer label that I love but can't afford, (yet). In a nutshell, the Markus Lupfer brand is super cool! Through use of innovative prints, "humorously subversive knitwear" and graphic embellishments, Lupfer's designs are feminine and fun with a funky, boyish twist.

I love the flattering silhouettes of the dresses and the matching pieces, like the top, hoody and dress in the same print, are so stylish! I've recently started checking The Outnet for discount designer pieces, so hopefully I'll snap up a bargain soon. I really should stop myself from searching the web for beautiful, designer clothing now or I'll be dreaming about Red Valentino and Stella McCartney dresses all night!

NO GLASSES & A CENTER PART

When I was 16-years-old my eyesight started to deteriorate and I've spent pretty much everyday since hiding behind rather large spectacles. My glasses have become a security blanket, as well as my statement look of course, which allow me to fake confidence and hide my tired eyes from the judgmental stares of strangers. I really do feel naked without them.

I have thought about laser eye surgery in the past, I love my glasses but let's face it, it's a nuisance needing to wear something bulky on your face all of the time. I find it particularly annoying during summer when I wish I could just pop on a pair of sunglasses, or when I want to lie down and watch a film but can't without plastic frames digging into the side of my head.... there are many reasons why laser treatment would be beneficial, but despite these I just don't feel ready to let go of my favourite fashion accessory yet. Maybe one day!

If you were interested yourself though, then I've been looking into the LASEK eye surgery that Optical Express offer; the proceedure is explained on the website and you can also book a free consultation. Visit them here to find out more information!

MYSTIC UNICORN SHORTS

Okay, so let's first all just take a moment to appreciate how long my hair is getting; I can now tie it up in a high bun! I'm actually getting it cut next week because where it's grown out from a pixie chop it's all different lengths and I want it evened out. What should I do with my fringe - keep it full or grow it out for the summer?

Last week I was sent a pair of these fun unicorn shorts by Lashes of London. At first I was a little stumped as to what I should wear them with, as they're quite light in comparison to the darker shades of my wardrobe, but I think they look pretty cool thrown in with this slightly sporty mix!? I love the flashes of acid adding to the sports luxe feel!

Speaking of sports, I've got trainers on the brain again! I haven't worn these glittery Carvela Kurt Geiger running shoes half as much as I thought I would, I think this is due to the fact that I really want a pair of Nikes! It used to be such a struggle to find stylish ladies trainers but since the sporty, street look has become fashionable, there's too much choice! Nike have some gorgeous, feminine designs and I love their collaboration with Liberty. I may have to take the plunge soon and buy a pair! (I was also contemplating getting some Converse shoes for slouchy, day wear with jeans, but they still remind me of my fourteen-year-old self, it's too soon!)

I'm not going to pretend that I know a lot about beauty products, cos I really don't, but a nail polish brand called Jacava was recently brought to my attention. Not only do they have a beautiful selection of luxurious shades to choose from, but their products don't contain any animal ingredients, nor do they test on animals; you can find out more about their brand ethics on their website.

I tried out "Candy Floss" and absolutely love it! The polish went on really easily, dried quickly, and I recieved lots of compliments from friends on the colour, I would definitely recommend it at just £14.50!

I WISH I WAS WEARING: MILLY

Over the past few weeks I've slowly but surely been clearing out my wardrobe, I tend to do this every time we have a change in season, I hate hoarding. I'm trying to edit it down so that it's filled only with garments that I love - it's tricky enough having to pick outfits each morning without rummaging through loads of crap I don't even wear first. I've also been trying to prepare for spring, bringing the lighter bits to the front and pushing the heavier knitwear and black skinnies to the back awaiting Autumn.

Whilst undergoing this tedious exercise I came to the realisation that not only am I lacking items suitable for summer, but I don't "love" many of my clothes either - I want a wardrobe filled with beautiful things that make me feel fabulous! In an ideal world where I had no limitations, I would most certainly be wearing 'Milly', I wish I could dress like this everyday.

The contrast between the boyish sweatshirts and the more feminine skirts creates such a cool, effortless look. For me, this AW13 collection is the epitome of style! I'm currently on the lookout for similar statement pieces to update my wardrobe, so please let me know if you come across anything, and if you wanted to check out Milly's current spring summer range then you can find a great selection on Jules B; I particularly like this white peplum dress.

CLOUD WATCHING

Just a quick post to show you what I wore to work today! Yesterday I received this gorgeous cloud print skater dress in the post, sent by one of my all time favourite online shops, MeeMee. It's a little too tight up the top for my liking, I seem to be going through a phase of wearing lots of baggy clothes, but the print is absolutely gorgeous and at just £17.00 it's an absolute steal! Be sure to check out their sale to, I'm about to have a quick scan myself... naughty.

THE VOGUE FESTIVAL 2013

A few weekends back Southbank was overrun with London's most stylish fashionistas as The Vogue Festival returned for a second year. Despite being so recently established, it boasted an incredible line-up of guests including the gorgeous Alexa Chung, "it girl" Cara Delevingne and legendary photographer Mario Testino.

I was lucky enough to be invited along by STYLIGHT to attend the talk "So, you want to be a fashion designer?", where I witnessed a truly inspiring discussion between some of fashion's finest talents. Read more about the event and my thoughts on the lecture over at STYLIGHT.co.uk!

ON ACCESSORIES

Okay, I need to come clean and tell you that I am terrible at accessorising. I know when I like a pair of shoes, a bag, or a piece of jewellery, but when it comes to actually using those things to compliment an outfit, I'm pretty clueless! (Apart from ankle socks, I love a good ankle sock). I particularly struggle with jewellery - I don't know if you've noticed that I rarely wear any... maybe I'm just being lazy?

Any way, I've had a think about this little reluctance of mine and have come to the conclusion that I'm missing out! I'm going to buy myself a new bag when I get paid this month, and I'll also invest in some more jewellery; chunky necklaces are in this summer, right? I promise to make more effort when accessorising from now on!

I was recently sent this simple, two-tone dress from She Likes. I love minimalism, layers freak me out a bit, so dresses like this are perfect! But just because it's simple, it doesn't mean that it can't be special - I guess that's where accessories come in handy. A simple dress acts as the perfect blank canvas on which you can experiment to your hearts content. Add a chunky, glitzy necklace and a delicate clutch to dress it up, or some crosses, spikes and a leather rucksack for a more punky look. Wear trainers for a more casual feel during the day...the possibilities are endless.

Here I've worn my simple, grey dress with black ankle socks, funky heels and and a white clutch. I love the white and black coordination throughout the outfit, and the splash of neon adds that little something special! I would wear this on a summer evening out with friends.

What are your favourite accessories and do you use them to enhance your outfits? I'm sorry about the poor quality photography by the way, my normal partner in crime wasn't about so I had to use a tripod in bad lighting conditions, sigh, it's a hard life.

JEWEL PRINT TOP FROM DAHLIA

I feel like I've been bombarding you all with event posts recently, so for that I'm sorry. Here's an outfit post, finally! This is what I wore to work on Friday, I'm ashamed to say that this outfit consisted of five separate shades of blue! I know it's not always a good idea to combine multiple tones of the same colour, but hey, sometimes you've got to just go for it!

I bought this beautiful jewel print t-shirt by Dahlia for just £22 on Thursday, it was in Topshop's concessions sale. I really like that it has an oversized fit, it makes me think of something that Laura Bailey might wear; she's often rocking that effortless, chic meets slouchy look that I'm oh so envious of. Here I've worn it loosely over a pretty skirt, but I'd also wear it tucked into something high-waisted - I did actually wear it again yesterday with my high waist eighties style jeans from Meemee.

FASHION FILM: FUNNY FACE

A work colleague recently suggested that I watch 'Funny Face', a romantic musical from the fifties in which a "dowdy" salesgirl called Jo, played by Audrey Hepburn, is transformed into a fabulous fashion model. The film follows Jo's adventure as she's whisked away to trendy, Beatnik Paris and photographed in beautiful outfits for a fashion magazine.

Once in Paris the photographer and his crew try to capture their perfect editorial shots whilst Jo struggles to adjust to her new lifestyle. Magical and far fetched, (in a good way), this film thrives on every girl's fantasy of working in the fashion industry in Paris and is sure you leave you feeling inspired! If you haven't seen it already then I'd recommend it; be sure to let me know your thoughts and which outfit is your favourite!
